The year is 1996. There is a huge commotion going in Dona Marta, a shanty town near Rio De Janeiro. People all around are running to the frenzied energy that is about to take place. Is it President Fernando Henrique Cardoso? Or maybe soccer player Ronaldo? It is neither of them. The crowd goes into a fever pitch as they catch sight of the must unlikely celebrity in the most unlikely places of all: Michael Jackson has just arrived to Dona Marta.

To understand the perplexity (and clarity) of Dona Marta, one doesn't have to look far. One of the most dangerous shanty towns in the world, DM rarely gets any attention. This favela (slum) wouldn't be on anyone's vacation destinations (many stay in Rio with their beaches and supermodels), especially a celebrity as big as Michael Jackson. What was he doing here, people wondered. Was it to rile up the people? Spread the message of unjustice? Or as Ronaldo Cezar Coelho, the state secretary for Industry, Commerce and Tourism stated: "I don't see why we should have to facilitate films that will contribute nothing to all our efforts to rehabilitate Rio's image." Coelho, along with a few officials, feared that Michael's presence in Brazil would deter their bidding chances to host the 2004 Olympics. Cristina Becker of the Rio Convention Bureau said: "We've always oriented producers to show the good that Rio has. If Michael Jackson only wants to show the bad side, it's better that he not come."(Ironically in 2009, Billboard Magazine described Dona Marta as "now a model for social development" and stated that Jackson's influence was partially responsible for this improvement.) ...

*I am no way a certified expert since I've had no training and did not obtain a Certificate in MJIWT Awesomeness PHD. However, I've seen the show about (at press time) 4 times and learned enough to know that this show rocks. Also I got tired of the biased reviews and wanted to give an insider review of how the show really is.

Imagine if one day someone came up to you and said, "We want you to put on the biggest show in the world for one of the biggest entertainers in the world. It's going to go across the globe, reaching millions of fans, and it must be epic. Oh by the way, this is for Michael Jackson."

    No pressure, huh?

It feels like eons ago, but when The Estate and Cirque announced the Michael Jackson Immortal World Tour, I was excited, thrilled, and a little curious. How do you represent the music, the power, the passion of Michael Jackson to a worldwide audience? ...

Michael Jackson a sweet gentle twelve-year-old boy,was my son’s babysitter before he became the Michael Jackson Moonwalker. This memory came back vividly last night as news of his death was telecast all over the world.

This was in the summer of 1972 and my son’s ranged from ages 3 to 8. We were spending our last trip together as a family at the Playboy Club in Miami, which I thought was a crazy place to go with 3 young children. My husband had announced he wanted a divorce because he was feeling crushed by the weight ...

This is a blog I've posted on mypace after Michael Jackson died. I thought I would share it on this website. This was back when I still tried to believe in God. There were so much anger and sadness. So many questions that I had that still remained unanswered.

    Never Can Say Goodbye...

Tell me why, is this so?

On Thursday, my mother calls me and tells me that Michael was rushed to the hospital, so then I hang up from her and go to twitter and check developments.
When it became clear to me to that Michael Jackson was indeed deceased, my whole world as I then knew it was over. The grief is more than I can bear. It's still unbelievable that Michael is gone from this world. It just seems like a dream. ...

A few hours ago people around the world rang in the New Year of 2012 (and probably still are depending on your time zone) It was also a chance to look back of the year 2011. As a Michael fan, there has been many ups and down, but through it all I knew I could always go back to the music. While looking at personal New Year’s Resolutions, it didn’t surprise me that Michael finds a way to wedge himself smack dab in the middle of that list. I’m not talking about resolutions to tirelessly drive my family and friends crazy with my Michaeling (which I do anyways). I’m talking about something more deeper: Making that change.

The end of 2011 means the coming of 2012. Depending on who you are, that may just mean the end of the world. If you’re me, it means the MJ/Freddie Mercury duets. For a long time, I’ve felt it was only appropriate to write a blog about Freddie and Michael, seeing as they’re two of the biggest influences of my life, but I never got the chance. I took some time tonight to really try to pay tribute to both, so hopefully I did it well.

When I was about 11 years old, I discovered Queen for the first time. I’d heard We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions on classic rock radio before, but I’d never actually heard Queen. ...

Are We Back To This Again? Sadly, the Answer Is...Yes!

This week marks the end and yet beginning of what has been a long road for Michael Jackson's family and fans. It is the start of what we hope will be justice, as the man accused of being directly responsible for his death faces his music at long last-and I don't mean MJ's music ...
